Maiden Voyage: Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas℠

The tease articles about Symphony of the Seas started months ago (years, really!), but the world’s biggest cruise ship has finally completed its maiden voyage!  When we reported on it in November of last year, the ship was planning on transporting close to 6,000  people into an unprecedented type of floating vacation.  Oh ya, and there is also an international crew count of 2,200 people!  A full-on floating city.

Her first official sail was on April 7th and it was a five-night voyage that started in Barcelona towards Italy that featured stops in Naples and Civitavecchia, the port for Rome.  On this trip and all of the voyages to come, passengers can enjoy everything from jumbo prawns to laser tag at any hour of the day.  There are 7 distinct neighborhoods among the 18 different decks, 20 different restaurants and of course 2 FlowRider Double surf simulators.  Check out the full fact sheet here – it’s incredible and slightly insane at the same time.  We should probably start planning some hands on testing of the machines, just to be sure everyone is having as much fun as they appear they are in the photos (wink, wink).

Come midsummer, Symphony will be heading to a Floridian port and will begin sailing mostly to the Bahamas and some ports throughout the Caribbean.  Royal Caribbean is always pushing the envelope with what they offer their guests and the sure as heck didn’t hold back on Symphony.  Keep your eyes peeled for cruise deals and maybe you will have the chance to #surfatsea sometime soon!

A few shots just to tide you over…
