FlowRider wraps up the 2014 North American FLOW Tour in style at Surf Style in Clearwater Beach, FL

“It was great to see competitors put their game faces on as they shred the wave, everybody was gunning for the bragging rights of Division Champion.” – Adam Muller, FLOW Events & Sport Marketing Coordinator.

The top flowboarders in North America invaded the Surf Style FlowRider®, in Clearwater Beach Florida, for the final stop on the 2014 North American FLOW Tour. As always, the Surf Style staff was accommodating and with extended efforts from Ben Corwin, store manager, the event offered up over $5,000 in cash and prizes.

A great turnout of riders and a highly contested competition made for a an exciting event as multiple divisions had competitors going head to head to claim division titles.  FLOW Events and Sport Marketing Coordinator for FlowRider Inc., Adam Muller said,  “It was great to see competitors put their game faces on as they shred the wave, everybody was gunning for the bragging rights of Division Champion.”  The top 6 scores/results from throughout the season are tallied to determine the overall winners. “In addition, there were several new faces that proved they were a force to reckon with as they caused several upsets throughout the day,” Muller explained.

The PRO Division Champions were already set in stone as  Chuck Wright (PRO Flowboard), Nick Sanchez (PRO Bodyboard) and Xana Nash (Female Flowboard) earned enough points earlier in the season to be un-touched. These three individuals will represent Team USA and will be seeded into the World Flowboarding Championship (WFC) event .

Although Chuck Wright had already claimed the PRO division for the season, that didn’t stop Cole Ditzel as he went straight to work putting together multiple high scoring runs that put him on top on the podium in the PRO Division for his first time. In the PRO Bodyboard division, Daniel Tarapchak put on a great display of riding with style and elevated tricks, beating out friendly rivals Nick Nguyen and Nick Sanchez.

The Junior and OPEN Flowboard divisions came down to the wire. Top contestants Jake Chipman out of Utah and Tate Freeman from Florida went head to head in the Finals in attempt to claim division titles.  It just so happened to work out that Freeman rose to the occasion, earning top spot on the podium at his home wave to claim to Junior Flowboard title and Chipman stepped up his game snatching first place in the OPEN division, earning himself a Flow Tour title as well.

Our hats are off to all competitors who showcased their skills throughout the season and we thank all the friends, families and supporters who came along for the ride on the 2014 North American FLOW Tour. We are more than excited to get to work during the offseason to make the 2015 tour bigger and better.

See ya on the wave!
