RCCL leads the “League” in FlowRider® Installations

RCCL leads the “League” in FlowRider® Installations – #10!

Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines have just commission their 10th – yes 10thFlowRider simulated surfing machine.  It is an incredible feature, and one worthy of noticing, as we continue to build more FlowRider’s for every new ship in the fleet, and even some that are not so new.

Take Voyager of the Seas as an example.  Commissioned in 1999 as what was then the largest cruise ship in the world, it was just dry docked for an elaborate USD$80 million in revitalization.  As the FlowRider sheet wave is a signature attraction for the RCCL fleet, it was added onto the 15 yr old Voyager during the latest dry dock period at the Sembawang Shipyard in Singapore.  The FlowRider was beautifully integrated into the existing cruise ship with a hybrid design that fully integrated the FlowRider into the ships substructure.  The result – surfing utopia for more fans of the RCCL and FlowRider brands!!

The latest design genius from FlowRider integrates a fully tested, more compact, and lighter design that can now be utilized on smaller cruise vessels in the fleet.  By completing all of the extensive testing during fabrication, the FlowRider team was able to install the wave in record time and it was off to the races!

Under the command of Captain Charles Teige, the Voyager set sail, but only after the maiden ride on the FlowRider by Captain Teige himself!!  As a veteran rider and former Captain of Freedom of the Seas, he has the experience on the FlowRider to match and he insisted that he be the first to test the flow of the endless surfing machine.

After riding some 45 meters above the waterline, and with a beautiful view of the sea, he later exclaimed that he was going to pop by Wave House Sentosa with his family and give the FlowBarrel Ten a try!  We love a Captain that CHARGES!!

The Voyager will spend Northern winter-spring season in Australia before returning to Singapore in April before home porting in Hong Kong later in June… bringing onboard flowboarding to all areas of Asia.  Go with the Flow!!
