Hyatt Hill Country FLOW Tour Event #1 Re-Cap – Champions hold their own

The North America Flow Tour kicked off over Easter Weekend (April 18-19) at the Hyatt Hill Resort and Spa San Antonio, Texas with a collection of the best flowboarders in the Nation. With divisions for all ages, from youth to professional, approximately 50-60 competitors went toe to toe (some missing advancements and placing’s by .01) for a chance to win prizes and their share of a $5,000 cash purse.

The FLOW Tour is a premier competitive tour with the Hyatt hosting the 1st of 12 events, and features the best riders in the world traveling from wave to wave and wowing observers with high performance maneuvers such as Ollie’s, Kick Flips, Varial Flips and other various tricks that can be related to surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding and wakeboarding.

The Hyatt is home to a FlowRider® Single and provided a great environment for spectators and resort guest to gather as riders showcased their skills.

“The FLOW Tour provides an opportunity for riders to compete at what they love to do and have fun along the way,” explains Adam Muller, FLOW Events and Sport Marketing Coordinator.

“It creates ever lasting relationships, friendly rivalries and a fun lifestyle for everyone” says Muller.

2013 World Champions Sean Silveira (Pro Flowboard), Nick Nguyen (Pro Bodyboard) and Xana Nash (Female Flowboard) were on site and to no surprise they rode to their potential. Silveira, landing the first switch front side flip, topped the podium and claimed $750 cash money in the Pro Flowboard division proving to competitors that they would have to put up a fight this season earn the his title. Nguyen was runner-up in Pro Bodyboard division as the young superstar, Nick Sanchez (16), earned the top spot with flawless riding and combination maneuvers that judges were forced to reward.  Female phenomenon, Xana Nash, defended her ranks in both the Female Flowboard and Junior Flowboard divisions. Austyn Bynon gave her some solid competition as she makes her comeback appearance in the women’s division (she took last year off due to injury). Nash also held off another top seed, Logan Lindeman, to claim the Junior Flowboard title.

Other event standouts Jake Chipman (Junior Flowboard), Tate Freeman (Men’s Flowboard), Damien Rivera (Men’s Bodyboard) and Morgan Seabert (Women’s bodyboard) earned top spots in their respective divisions and started their 2014 season ahead of the field.

The FLOW Tour takes a brief pause but will resume as competitors travel to Jay Peak, Vermont and Canada on June 20th and 22nd for the second leg of the season.
