FlowRider FLOW Tour swings through California

FlowRider FLOW Tour West Coast Wrap Up

The 2015 FlowRider FLOW Tour Presented by White WaterWest swung over to the West Coast June 15th through June 20th, as top flowboarders from around the country gathered in California to compete at DropZone Waterpark and WaveHouse San Diego, for events number four and five of the ten events scheduled this season.

The FLOW Tour welcomes all ages and skill levels to compete, and encourages local riders to participate in the competition to gain experience and increase their skill sets.  Participants can sign up in appropriate age and skill level brackets to earn a chance and winning cool prizes and showcase their flow to judges, spectators, peers and family members.

DropZone Waterpark in Perris, California, features a FlowRider Double wave attraction, perfect for hosting the fourth stop of the 2015 season, making this their second consecutive year as a Prime Event where competitors can improve their National Rankings.

With approximately forty competitors entering the competition, participants wowed park guest and spectators with their tricks and sportsmanship.

Brad Spencer (2012 World Champion) held off Sean Silveira (5x World Champion) and Jake Chipman (Rookie Pro) to claim the podiums top spot in the Pro Flowboard Division, and added five hundred dollars to his wallet. In the Pro Bodyboard Division, current World Champion, Nick Nguyen, went head to head in the finals with local talent, Daniel Tarapchak. Nguyen showcased excellent riding with near perfect execution, where Daniel was speedy and technical making it a tough decision for the judging panel.  At the end of the day, first place was awarded to the current World Champion, Nick Nguyen; Tarapchak was a close second!

“I’ve been competing a long time, it’s getting harder to keep up with the younger generation but the passion for the sport is still strong!” mentioned Nick Nguyen.

Following the competition on Tuesday at DropZone, flowboarders relocated to WaveHouse San Diego for stop #5 on Thursday, where the venue was celebrating their 10 Year Anniversary. With events happening on and off the wave all week long, the FLOW Tour provided fun and entertainment for the guest at WaveHouse where they saw competitors battle it out on the FlowRider Single for tour points and over $2,500 in cash and prizes!

Brad Spencer went to work and earned himself back to back wins in California, stream lining his 2015 FLOW Tour Campaign and taking the number one seed going into the final five events of the season.

“I am excited to have an edge going into the second half of the season, but I still have to compete hard if I want to be the Tour Champion and earn a trip to the World Flowboarding Championships” explained Spencer.

After missing the event at DropZone Waterpark, 2014 Tour Champion, Nick Sanchez, made an appearance at WaveHouse and held nothing back. Sanchez defeated Nick Nguyen in the head to head final by throwing down some of the highest scores of the event.  Along with taking home a nice pay day, Sanchez leads the Pro Bodyboard Division as the FLOW Tour heads to the East Coast for stop #6 at FLOW House, Wildwood on July 17th.
