New Wave Alert: Marassi Water World

FlowRider Joins the North Coast of Egypt

Egypt is full of wonderous feats of engineering that tourists love to visit like the Pyramids of Giza, the Luxor Temples, and Abu Simbel. And now, tourists can add another epic feat of engineering to their itineraries—the FlowRider Double!

Last Friday, the newest FlowRider opened to the public at Marassi Water World, the very first waterpark on the North Coast of Egypt. Josh Ornelaz, FlowRider Aftersales Manager, oversaw the final days of the install. Check out his recap below:

Just over three hours from the Great Pyramids, settled in the North Coast of Egypt, you can find an oasis in the desert: Marassi Water World, an amazing waterpark that includes multiple WhiteWater attractions. The location is unbeatable; if you wander just outside the park, you’ll stumble into the crystal blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

No project can be successful without the team behind it, and this is a perfect example of everyone working together seamlessly. Mina Saad and Jake Fassett led the charge of managing this project from our Dubai and San Diego offices respectively, with Adam Gale managing the steel portion of the installation. The second portion of the installation was led by Andy Prendergast and Brett Gale, and after some long hot days on site, they turned the wave on to a crowd full of smiles. One other critical member to the team was Ahmed Tarek, who happens to be from Egypt. He was able to provide all the local knowledge needed and always had a smile!

I was lucky enough to join this project at the end for the Training and Commissioning. This was special because my first WhiteWater/FlowRider project was the last Egypt installation in Hurghada 10 years ago. To my surprise, one of the team members from that installation was with me on this one.  Whenever we open a new wave, we always start by welcoming them to the FLOW Family. It really is special being able to meet people from around the world and share a smile while riding a FlowRider.

See you on the waves.
