DropZone Waterpark FLOW Tour Event #7

FLOW Tour hits the new Perris, CA Waterpark

The DropZone Waterpark recently opened in Perris California, featuring the FlowRider®  Double surf machine attraction to go along with slides, mat racers, lazy river, volleyball courts and other amenities as they opened their gates to the best flowboarders in country.

The DropZone Waterpark is owned by Riverside County and will be operated by its Regional Parks and Open Space District, and opened just in time for friends, families and traveling guests to cool off this Summer (2014) and surf on the FlowRider, DropZone’s wave simulator. “We are excited for the event – this is our first year open and it is great to be on Tour, the locals are thrilled,”  stated Wendy Weiss, Aquatic Coordinator.

The practice session for the upcoming event had a large turnout of competitors – some competing for the very first time, and many of them local riders.  As the venue put on a great event, there was an equally great display of riding from experienced competitors, as they lit up the California desert battling it out for Tour standings, prizes and cash money!

In the womens division, Austyn Bynon claimed top spot earning herself some valuable Tour points, while Tate Freeman, Logan Lideman and serious threat Jake Chipman battled it out in the Junior and OPEN Flowboard divisions.

Brad Spencer (2012 World Flowboarding Champion) bounced back after a 3rd place finish in San Diego and took first place in PRO Flowboard holding off Chuck Wright and Theo Koby with a close finish for runner-up. “That was one of the best finals I have ever seen, I don’t know if I have seen that good of riding in a long time!” mentioned FLOW Tour judge, Shaun Hancock.

In the PRO Bodyboard division, California boy Daniel Tarapchak defended his home turf  siezing the victory with a nice display of stylish and elevated riding, and beating out top contenders Nick Nguyen, Andrew Shelton and Nick Sanchez.

The Tour rolls on as riders will travel to Utah where Lindon Aquatics Center, FlowRider Utah, and Provo Beach Resort host a trio of FLOW Tour Prime events from July 23rd ,24th and 25th .
See you on the wave.
