The country of Armenia was around and inhabited through the Bronze Age (~2300 BC), the Iron Age (~1200 BC) and is just now entering the Wave Age. Ok, ok…we made that era up, but it just feels right. The country’s capitol, Yerevan, is now home to the world’s 2nd WaveOz™ surf simulator – a telltale sign that the Wave Age has officially erupted in Armenia!
Armenia’s 8th president, Serzh Sargsyan, helped cut the Grand Opening ribbon for the country’s brand new Reebok Sports Club a couple weeks ago. The WaveOz is of course one of the major anchors. This facility also boasts an Olympic-sized pool, a state-of-art Fitness Hub, a martial arts center, a wellness center and much more. This attraction is a beast – it’s a 180 degree sheet wave with an entirely inflatable ride surface. This particular wave has a massive viewing area above it. We think members of the club will gladly take their breaks in this area so they can be entertained by the riders on this incredible wave.
“This ride is blowing people’s minds,” reports Jeff Ranta, one of FlowRider’s Lead Installers. “The guys that were onsite the whole time just kept getting more and more excited as we progressed in the install.”
The huge ride surface allows riders to pump, gain some speed and do tricks that have never been done on a sheet wave before. This ride also allows the owner/operator to create “lanes” with inflatable dividers; up to 4 riders can ride in their respective lanes simultaneously.
